In Maharashtra, the
construction of Hydro Electric Projects is entrusted
to Water Resources Department ( Formerly known as
Irrigation Department). Works of Hydro Electric Power
Projects are being executed in close co-ordination of
Civil, Mechanical and Electrical wings of Water
Resources Department. Major Hydro Electric Power
Projects constructed in the State are Irrigation Based
Dam Foot Power Houses except for some large
independent Hydro Electric Projects. The Energy
generated from these Hydro Electric Projects is being
fed into MAHAGENCO’s grid. After successfully
commissioning and Synchronizing the Hydro Electric
Projects, they are handed over to MAHAGENCO for
operation & maintenance purpose.
